Kent State University – Main Campus
Melink Solar partnered with Kent State University to engineer and construct a 7.2 MW DC ground-mounted solar PV system across two sites on the Kent Campus. Spanning 23 acres, the array features 13,026 panels and generates approximately 8,500 MWh of clean electricity annually, meeting 10% of the campus’s energy needs. This project, completed under a 30-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), underscores Kent State’s commitment to sustainability while reducing its carbon footprint by 10,700 tons annually. Additionally, the system includes a 1.5 MW battery energy storage system (BESS) to enhance grid stability and operational efficiency, further positioning the campus as a leader in renewable energy innovation.
