Long-Stanton Building 2
Melink Solar completed a second rooftop solar installation for Long-Stanton in December 2024, adding a 113 kW DC array to their Hamilton, Ohio, facility. This follows the successful completion of a 276 kW system earlier in the year, further advancing Long-Stanton’s commitment to sustainability and operational efficiency. Founded in 1835 as a private mint producing local currency and uniform buttons, Long-Stanton has grown into a diversified metal stamper and fabricator, serving industries such as aerospace, energy, healthcare, construction, and OEM industrial sectors.
Operating from a 66,000-square-foot facility, Long-Stanton faced a 42% increase in electrical costs in early 2023 due to a reset in their energy supplier contract. Additionally, growing interest from European customers regarding carbon reduction and energy efficiency motivated the company to expand its solar capacity. With both solar installations, Long-Stanton now covers 85% of its 2022 electrical consumption at a projected 30-year energy cost of just $0.018 per kWh, a significant reduction from the $0.136 per kWh paid in 2023. This project underscores Long-Stanton’s dedication to sustainable manufacturing and positions the sixth-generation family business for continued success in a competitive global market.
